We are running out of cash

Dear Reader,

It's that time of the month again where we need to get ready for paying our web hosting company. Pathetic really how - in spite of the thousands of readers that visit this site every day - we struggle each month to raise even the funds needed for our dedicated server hosting package, leave alone hiring editorial staff to free up time for research and writing. So if you haven't already done so recently, go to the donations form underneath the red stop sign now and chip in with whatever you can spare: $5, $20, $50, $100 or more. Or better even, use the same form to set up a subscription. Something like $50 per year, $20 per quarter or $8 per month would be great.

John McCain’s Attack On Liberty

E-mail Print PDF

Anyone paying attention knows that John McCain has been a Big-Government Globalist Neocon (BGGN) for virtually his entire senatorial career. As with many BGGNs hiding out in the Republican Party, McCain likes to talk about smaller government, but his track record is littered with the promotion of one big government program after another. But, what else would one expect from a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)?

Lately, however, McCain has outdone himself. He has introduced two bills in the US Senate that are about as Machiavellian as they could be. I am referring to S.3081, a bill that would authorize the federal government to detain American citizens indefinitely without trial, and S.3002, a bill that would authorize the federal government to regulate vitamins, minerals, and virtually all health and natural food products.

Mercury in Beef, It's What's for Dinner?

E-mail Print PDF

CORPUS CHRISTI - The US Department of Agriculture told Action 10 News on Wednesday that it is also looking into a local family's claims that meat they bought from HEB had mercury inside it. The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service is responsible for ensuring that all meat is safe and packaged correctly. The family first told Action 10 News on Monday that a material they believe is mercury began seeping out of their meat as they were cooking it Sunday evening. They have since taken samples back to the store and to their physician for analysis. CCPD crime scene technicians also came to the family's home on Monday to take photos of the meat and a sample for testing. HEB has removed some of its ground beef from the shelf as a precaution at the Alameda and Robert location, where the family claims to have bought it, but the company says it has received no other similar complaints so far and believes this was an isolated incident. Chicken poo in your burger? USDA allows it in cattle feed

E-mail Print PDF

disease There are 14 billion hamburgers consumed each year in the United States alone. The people who eat those burgers, though, have little knowledge of what's actually in them. Current USDA regulations, for example, openly allow beef contaminated with E. coli to be repackaged, cooked and sold as ready-to-eat hamburgers.

This simple fact would shock most consumers if they knew about it. People assume that beef found to be contaminated with E. coli must be thrown out or destroyed (or even recalled), but in reality, it's often just pressed into hamburger patties, cooked, and sold to consumers. This practice is openly endorsed by the USDA.
