It's that time of the month again where we need to get ready for paying our web hosting company. Pathetic really how - in spite of the thousands of readers that visit this site every day - we struggle each month to raise even the funds needed for our dedicated server hosting package, leave alone hiring editorial staff to free up time for research and writing. So if you haven't already done so recently, go to the donations form underneath the red stop sign now and chip in with whatever you can spare: $5, $20, $50, $100 or more. US-led strike kills more Afghan civilians

Another US-led airstrike has killed several civilians in Afghanistan's troubled south, amid growing public discontent over such attacks.

Afghan provincial officials say at least a dozen people were also injured in the fatal attack, which took place in Kandahar Province on Wednesday, a press TV correspondent reported.

Flood victims block roads in Pakistan

Hundreds of Pakistani flood victims have blocked a highway in the worst-hit province of Sindh, protesting the slow pace of aid deliveries to their relief camps.

About 500 people blocked the main road between Karachi and Thatta for three hours on Wednesday, calling on the Islamabad government to provide food and shelter for them.

US charges Pakistani Taliban leader

US prosecutors have charged Hakimullah Mehsud, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban, with organising an attack that killed seven CIA employees at an American base in Afghanistan last December.

The US Justice department said on Wednesday that Mehsud, believed to be in the tribal areas of Pakistan, was charged with conspiracy to kill Americans overseas and to use a weapon of mass destruction.

Kandahar official killed in bombing

A provincial Afghan official and his driver have been targeted in a bombing attack in Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar, police say.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when a remote-controlled bomb mounted on a motorbike went off, hitting Mohammed Hassan Temori, head of Kandahar's hajj and Islamic affairs.

US deaths in Afghan war hit record

The American death toll in Afghanistan this year has reached the highest annual rate since the start of the US-led invasion of the country nearly nine years ago.

A total of 323 US soldiers have so far been killed in Afghanistan during 2010, compared to 317 in 2009, according to figures published by the independent icasualties.org website, quoted by AFP.

Clegg surprises troops in Afghanistan

As Nick Clegg makes a surprise visit to British troops in Afghanistan's Helmand Province, he confirms plans to have troops out of Afghanistan by 2015.

The Press Association reported that the deputy prime minister stated to British troops at Camp Bastion base, “what I have seen today is a complete transformation of the military effort that I first saw when I visited two years ago,” adding that the coalition government is set on having all British combat troops out by 2015.
