Interview with Deborah Lipstatic: Holocaust Denial is Pervasive, Growing, and Doomed

New York City -- Speaking from the Bellevue psychiatric ward where she is undergoing evaluation for advanced schizophrenia, Holocaust Confirmer Deborah Lipstatic today declared, "The situation is critical and victory is at hand" in the war on Holocaust heresy.

Lipstatic, Professor of Victimology at Coca Cola University in Atlanta, insisted that Holocaust denial is not a legitimate field of study and entirely worthless intellectually, which, she said, explains why she devotes herself night and day to refuting its claims.

This year marks nine years since historian David Irving lost his libel suit against Lipstatic, who chronicled her battle against him in her book, “Money Can't Buy Love But It Can Buy The Courts - How I Single-Handedly Defeated David Irving With Swarms of Lawyers and Researchers and an Avalanche of Holocaust Industry Cash" (Orthodox Books, 2000).

Legalienate's editors were generously granted a lengthy interview with her on the recently proclaimed Holocaust Obsession Day, which lasts for 24 weeks instead of what Lipstatic called the "stingy" 24 hours of the standard day. Speaking from the isolated back ward where she currently resides, she explained how to make failure look like victory, why freedom requires adherence to a single view, and how Holocaust denial plays a crucial role in forging Jewish identity, especially among gentiles.

LEGALIENATE: Nine years later, how would you characterize the Irving trial?

LIPSTATIC: It was a resounding victory for the world inside my head. I went head-to-head with the world's leading Holocaust denier and I single-handedly won a judgment stating that historical facts are not to be determined by the courts.

LEGALIENATE: But wasn't that obvious from the beginning?

LIPSTATIC: Not to me it wasn't.

LEGALIENATE: Have you solved the problem of Holocaust denial?

LIPSTATIC: Of course not. But we did provide precise explanations proving that what Deniers say are complete deviations from what we say. We didn't prove what happened, and nobody else better either, but we proved that what they say happened could not possibly have happened if what we say happened, happened. And to quote George Bush the Elder, "what we say, goes."

LEGALIENATE: I see. How do you advise people to deal with Holocaust deniers?

LIPSTATIC: The first way is to see if the facts prove the case: If they say “At this meeting Hitler said X, Y and Z," you can go and check if they changed the date. If they say Hitler said X, Y and Z on a Wednesday, but it was actually a Tuesday, you can be sure you are dealing with lying scum and dismiss their argument.

The second way is deductive reasoning or logic. Deniers will say that the very fact that there are so many survivors proves that the Holocaust couldn't have been as ruthlessly efficient as we say it was, because if the Germans were all-powerful and utterly determined to kill every last Jew, how did more than a million Jews survive?" You counter that by saying that there were a lot of miraculous escapes, because the Jews were plucky and determined and learned to jump off the transport trucks just in the nick of time.

LEGALIENATE: Why weren't they gunned down?

LIPSTATIC: They ran between the bullets.

LEGALIENATE: Oh.

LIPSTATIC: The third way of refuting Deniers is by citing the facts: If they say, “How do we know there were gas chambers?” you can say, “Let me show you the German plans for gas chambers.” But if they say, "Where is the forensic proof of the gas chambers themselves?" you can reply, "Let me show you Israel's plans to have people like you extradited and put on trial for Holocaust denial." That clinches the argument.

LEGALIENATE: Why don't you debate deniers?

LIPSTATIC: It's like trying to convince a member of the flat earth society that the earth is round. There's no point.

LEGALIENATE: But you can show a flat earther a picture of the round earth. Do you have a picture of a mass gassing chamber?

LIPSTATIC: No, but it wouldn't matter if we did. Deniers are irrational. They think absence of evidence is evidence of absence of evidence. They're completely irrational.

LEGALIENATE: How are they successful then?

LIPSTATIC: The usual way. They confuse people with convoluted explanations that lead nowhere. Remember, Holocaust denial is anti-Semitism, and anti-Semitism is hatred of Israel, and hatred of Israel is anti-Jewish prejudice, and anti-Jewish prejudice is congenital in Gentiles, so it's impossible to eliminate, but we must try to do the impossible because it's ennobling and we owe it to the victims of the Holocaust.

LEGALIENATE: I see. You're sure there's no point in debating your opponents?

LIPSTATIC: If you try to argue with a person who is committed to a completely illogical premise, then you're lost to begin with -- you're already sucked into their world of fantasy.

LEGALIENATE: So, it's like imaginary numbers in mathematics. They don't really exist, can't exist. After all, what's the square root of a negative number?

LIPSTATIC: Exactly.

LEGALIENATE: So math teachers who force kids to study that stuff are nutcases who can't face reality. The kids have ample reason to turn them in.

LIPSTATIC: Right. They're defaming the rational numbers. Have them call the Simon Wiesenthal Center. They have a program to extradite them to Israel to stand trial for numerical anti-Semitism.

LEGALIENATE: How has Holocaust denial changed since your trial and book?

LIPSTATIC: Well, recently we've seen the emergence of both "hard core" and “soft-core” denial. Hard-core denial is saying, "I need forensic evidence of mass gassing chambers before I can believe in them." That's hard core because once you get on the slippery slope of requiring material evidence for your beliefs it becomes addictive and you stop believing just for belief's sake, or because there are Holocaust specials pouring out of the TV twenty-four hours a day, and you start thinking, "Why should I believe in something that no one can show me the material basis of?" The next thing you know you don't believe in UFOs or penis-enlargement, and the entire basis of civilized order collapses.

LEGALIENATE: Right. And soft-core denial?

LIPSTATIC: Soft-core is more subtle. It's “Why do we have to hear so much about the Holocaust?” Or "Haven't the Jews done anything other than be exterminated in Nazi gas chambers?" The person who makes this kind of remark is gullible, not hateful, so they're worth talking to. Just tell them, "You have to hear constantly about the Holocaust because it's the only historical event that ever had any real importance." But if they don't buy that, brand them an anti-Semite and hound them mercilessly. It's for their own good.

LEGALIENATE: How do you respond to those who compare Nazi treatment of the Jews to Israel's treatment of the Palestinians?

LIPSTATIC: You have to zero in on what genocide is -- you can say, "A genocide is something done to the Jews, never by them, or a lesser genocide done to lesser people, but which is endorsed by Jewish groups to help take heat off of Israel. Like Darfur." The point is that only Jewish suffering counts. Gentiles are thick, so you can't make this point too often.

LEGALIENATE: Is Holocaust denial on the rise?

LIPSTATIC: Definitely. Holocaust denial is pervasive, growing, and doomed. It is incredibly serious that it is taking over, but at the same time utterly trivial and quite meaningless. We must ignore it and crush it - right away.

    This topic is about the Holocaust. Israel did not exist then. Please try to fit this tiny concept into your miniscule brain. The Holocaust happened BEFORE Israel existed.     I agree - in principal - that we should respect peoples' religious beliefs, even the silliest ones, like the miracle of killing over 1 million Jews with the non-toxic exhaust fumes of a diesel engine, burning them with rationed petrol in trenches with a ground water level as high as 1 meter below surface (i.e. in a waterfilled pool) and then making the trenches plus remains disappear undetectable for modern forensic science on a property not bigger than a modern football stadium. I agree if, and only if these silly beliefs are not then used to justify real genocide and real ethnic cleansing such as that of the Palestinian people or the fraudulent extortion of billions of dollars in reparations from generations of German tax payers.

    Sometimes authors use a novel or screenplay to support political or social beliefs; or to cry out for morality and ethical principles. This is no more clearly evident than with Holocaust books and films. Whenever we stand up to those who deny or minimize the Holocaust, or to those who support genocide we send a critical message to the world.

    We know from captured German war records that millions of innocent Jews were systematically exterminated by Nazi Germany - most in gas chambers. Despite this knowledge, Holocaust deniers ply their mendacious poison everywhere, especially with young people on the Internet. Holocaust books and films help to tell the true story of the Shoah, combating anti-Semitic historical revision. And, they protect vulnerable future generations from making the same mistakes.

    I wrote Jacob's Courage to promote Holocaust education. This coming of age love story presents accurate scenes and situations of Jews in ghettos and concentration camps, with particular attention to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz. It examines a constellation of emotions during a time of incomprehensible brutality. A world that continues to allow genocide requires such ethical reminders and remediation.

    Many authors feel compelled to use their talent to promote moral causes. Holocaust books and movies carry that message globally, in an age when the world needs to learn that genocide is unacceptable. Such authors attempt to show the world that religious, racial, ethnic and gender persecution is wrong; and that tolerance is our progeny's only hope.

    I challenge your interpretation of the "holocaust" and the events that took place. Until I see the zionist powers accept responsiblity for their cooperation with the Nazis in helping them create their own "nationalist state" just like Hitler was creating your research and writing are worthless.

    The sad thing is that you want me to believe your diatribe about how horrendous this event was, yet the fullness of its tragedy cannot be appreciated until the examination of zionist collusion in the slaughter is broached.

    For too long the world has been held hostage by individuals seeking to mislead humanity into believing the most morally backrupt group of people on the planet could actually be "God's favorite".

    James B. You asked for proof. Here it is. Below is just a sample of the web sites corroborated by the most notable PhD historians. This in not my proof. It is the proof generally accepted by all of the world's professional historians. James B, I have no idea where you obtained your PhD in European history, but please take a look at the most highly regarded historians, based upon countless thesis and dissertation papers and by the global academic community.

    Here we go:

    The facts of the Holocaust are not a matter of perspective. Professional historians throughout the world have verified via empirical evidence that millions of Jews were murdered by Nazi Germany. Again, this comes from a multitude of sources - from the testimony of victims, workers, traders, suppliers, captured German war records and from the testimony of Nazi leaders in court. Keep in mind that those Nazi leaders had every reason in the world to lie (to deny that they murdered millions of Jews). Instead, they were proud of their efforts.

    Facts are judged by empirical evidence. From the Nuremburg Trials to the Nazi concentration camp records, the evidence is overwhelming. Millions of Jews were systematically murdered. You may argue until you're blue in the face over the final count. But the empirical evidence exists. The records are faultless evidence. Nazi leaders testified that the records are accurate. That is accompanied by the fact that millions of Jews vanished and were never heard from again. They did not go on vacation.

    Listed below are the most reliable figures for Nazi extermination camps that used various forms of gas, including Zyklon B, to kill prisoners:

    Kulmhof i.e. Chelmno (in the then Wartheland), where between December 1941 and fall 1942 and again from May until August 1944 gassings by means of carbon monoxide from motor exhaust gas took place. Altogether more than 150,000 Jews as well as 5,000 gypsies have hereby been killed.

    Belzec (in the district Lublin of the then general governments): from March to December 1942 in the beginning in three, later in six large gas chambers by means of carbon monoxide from motor exhaust gas altogether about 600,000 Jews were killed here.

    Sobibor (district Lublin, general government) received in April 1942 three, later in September 1942 six gas chambers and until October 1943 it was "in operation". During this period at least 200,000 Jews have been murdered through carbon monoxide gas.

    Treblinka (district Warschau, general government) from the end of July 1942 on had three gas chambers and received at the start of September 1942 furthermore ten larger gas chambers. Up to the dissolution of the camp in November 1943 altogether 700,000 Jews were killed here by carbon monoxide.

    Majdanek (district Lublin, general government): The concentration camp existing since September 1941 turned into an extermination camp when between April 1942 and November 1943 mass shootings took place to which 24,000 Jews fell victim. In October 1942 also two, later three gas chambers were built. In the beginning the killings in these were done by means of carbon monoxide, soon however one was using Zyklon B (a highly poisonous insecticide made from cyan hydrogen). Up until the dissolution of the camp in March 1944 about 50,000 Jews have been gassed.

    Auschwitz-Birkenau (in the formerly Polish, in 1939 adjoined to the "Reich" upper eastern Silesian area, southeastern of Kattowitz): The extermination camp in Birkenau, established in the second half of 1941, was joined to the concentration camp Auschwitz, existing since May 1940. From January 1942 on, in five gas chambers and from the end of June 1943 in four additional large gassing-rooms, gassings with Zyklon B have been undertaken. Up until November 1944 more than one million Jews and at least 4,000 gypsies have been murdered by gas.

    Mauthausen (upper Austria): From fall 1941 on, one gas chamber existed which was operated with Zyklon B. In addition, gassings with carbon monoxide took place through gas vans which were driven between Mauthausen and its side-camp Gusen. Altogether more than 4,000 have been killed here through gas.

    Neuengamme (southeastern of Hamburg): From fall of 1942 on gassings with Zyklon B were undertaken here in a "Bunker" prepared for that, about 450 victims.

    Sachsenhausen (Province Brandenburg, north of Berlin) received mid-March 1943 a gas chamber that was operated with Zyklon B. Several thousand people fell victim to the gassings, a more specific number cannot be determined.

    Natzweiler (by Struthof, Elsass): From August 1943 to August 1944 a gas chamber existed here in which between 120 and 200 people were killed through Zyklon B in order to be able to dissect their skeletons for the Anatomica Institute of University of Strassburg. Back then this institute was managed by a chief company commander of SS Prof. Dr. August Hirt.

    Stutthof (east of Danzig) had from June 1944 on one gas chamber in which more than 1,000 were killed by Zyklon B.

    Ravensbrueck (Bradenburg, north of Berlin): Here still in January 1945 a gas chamber was established; the number of the people killed in it was at least 2,300.

    Nothing here is "ad hominum." Everything here is verifiable and extensively researched. Most of this data comes directly from German records, captured by Allied armed forces and processed through the Nuremburg trials. It also utilizes 65 years of research studies, thesis and doctoral dissertation papers, conducted by PhD historians around the world. This is as close to the truth as we can safely say today. It establishes without room for doubt that millions of innocent Jews were systematically exterminated and that most of them were killed in gas chambers.

    However, Germany is about to release even more data from Nazi records, including the names of millions of innocent Jewish men, women and children executed in all Nazi concentration camps. We currently have records proving that millions of Jews were murdered and we will soon have all of their names. These figures are not disputable. The captured records were kept meticulously by SS leadership.

    Who would argue against virtually all historians? Why twist history against the Jews? That is the ultimate question.

    No event in human history has been studied as thoroughly and carefully than the Holocaust. Thousands of thesis and dissertations papers have poured over all of the evidence, from anecdotal testimony to captured German war documents. Virtually every historian with a PhD in European History agrees that millions of Jews were systematically exterminated by Nazi Germany. One can no more "revise" this fact than one can revise the existence of gravity. Captured German documents alone account for enough evidence to convict Nazi Germany of mass genocide in any civil (not Islamic) court. You can suggest that 5.6 million Jews were killed, instead of six million. But, you cannot deny that millions of innocent Jews were murdered. The Wansee Conference planned the killing. Nazi concentration camp records prove that it was carried out.

    Whenever we stand up to those who deny or minimize genocide we send a critical message to the world. As we continue to live in an age of genocide and ethnic cleansing, we must repel the broken ethics of our ancestors, or risk a dreadful repeat of past transgressions. We know from captured German war records that millions of innocent Jews were systematically exterminated by Nazi Germany - most in gas chambers. These facts have been proven repeatedly through countless thesis and dissertation research papers. Virtually every PhD in the world will stake their career on the veracity of known Holocaust facts. Despite this knowledge, Holocaust deniers ply their mendacious poison everywhere, especially with young people on the Internet. Such deniers have only one agenda - to distort the truth in a way that promotes antagonism against the object of their hatred, or to deny the culpability of their ancestors and heroes.

    Museums and mandatory public education are tools to dispel bigotry, especially racial and ethnic hatred. Books, films and presentations can reinforce the veracity of past and present genocides. They help to tell the true story of the perpetrators of genocide; and they reveal the abject terror, humiliation and degradation resulting from prejudice. It is therefore essential that we disclose the factual brutality and horror of genocide, combating the deniers’ virulent, inaccurate historical revision. We must protect vulnerable future generations from making the same mistakes.

    A world that continues to allow genocide requires ethical remediation. We must show the world that religious, racial, ethnic, gender and orientation persecution is wrong; and that tolerance is our progeny's only hope. Only through such efforts can we reveal the true horror of genocide and promote the triumphant spirit of humankind.

    How right you are Cindy. Israel got Darfur going for three reasons: one as a back door into Egypt (their ultimate jewel in the crown for water and mega-bucks in tourism and lots of oil in upper Egypt close to Sudan and in the Western Desert close to the Libyan border.

    Secondly and more sinister, is that Israel arms and pays the Janjaweed (who by the way are not Arabs but Africans) to attack Darfur whenever Israel is about to do something really dirty so that everyone's attention is on Darfur. This is always Israel's way.

    Thirdly, if Israel gets a foothold in Egypt then they can lay claim to water from the Nile, something they have been trying to do but failed badly for many years. If this happens, then all other countries who rely on the Nile for water/life can kiss it goodbye, Israel doesn't share, it takes -ALL.

    Before: When I was child going through Grade School WWII was discussed according to significant battles, milestones, critical events, etc.

    Before: Over 20 Million died in WWII as the result of Axis Power aggression.

    There is no doubt concerning the holocaust that many were imprisoned, and in the horror of it all many died, it is unfortunate that it must be used as a political weapon for reason that in truth benefits no one. Let it instead be a warning to everyone, that there are people even today capable of such carnage upon others.

    However, it is a sign of external motive when it can not be discussed and researched or investigated openly and honestly. This young lady appears not having a clear mind about this issue or subject, such antic's only arouse as it should suspicion of purpose and legitimacy of fact they espouce in terms showing little logic.

    A person having studied history concerning locations of reported anti semitism will find some underlying causes seldom spoken of, and were this not so, holocaust would not be the weapon it is used as today.

Millions of innocent Jews were systematically exterminated by Nazi Germany. This is as factual as gravity. Neither can be denied.

    I know those that affirm the holocaust need those that deny it more then they are willing to admit. The questions persist because of the disproportionate and unreasonable reaction by those who seem unwilling to have a reasonable debate or evaluate objective evidence. The "we refuse to discuss it because it is so offensive" nonsense will only work for so long. Honestly, what does it hurt to question? I think a more dangerous disease is the fallacy that one man is chosen above the rest as that disparity gives rise to slavery, war and hate. I guess if I was perpetrating a fraud that injures and kills people I would probably try to have my opponents killed or declared insane. One must ask themselves who is really the insane one. The one who treats war as a gift from god or the man that seeks a valid answer for all the pain and death he sees around him?

    I have no fear so don't bother threatening me.
